How it works
Step 1
Copy the link
Open the post in TikTok, tap Share, then Copy link. A profile URL is not a video link; use the link on the post itself.
Step 2
Paste it here
Put the link in the field above and press Download. We read the video ID, fetch the public post and prepare the file.
Step 3
Save the file
When the card says the file is ready, press Download video. On iPhone the file lands in Files, then Downloads; on Android it is in Downloads.
Supported links
We accept the link shapes TikTok produces from the Share sheet: tiktok.com/@handle/video/123…, the vm.tiktok.com and vt.tiktok.com short links, and the m.tiktok.com mobile form. Full share text also works — if you paste “Check out this video” followed by the URL, we find the URL inside it.
We do not accept story links, profile-only links, Douyin links, private posts or posts that have been deleted. A story is a different product and we do not download it. If a link fails, the result page says which of those it thinks it is, and you can try the post again from TikTok.
What this tool will not do
It will not download private, friends-only or deleted posts; it will not download stories; it will not take Douyin links; it will not remove a watermark from a file you already have; it will not convert audio to another format; and it will not work around a region block. Those are boundaries, not bugs.
Why TikSwoop
No ads
No ad slots, no pop-ups, no vignettes, no affiliate links. Nothing on this page is trying to sell you a second thing.
No fake wait
There is no five-second countdown before a button appears. When the file is ready, the button is there.
No app
No APK, no store link, no install banner and no add-to-home-screen prompt. The browser is enough.
No sign-in
We never ask for a TikTok password or session cookie. Only public posts are reachable from here.
Nothing signed is stored
The temporary TikTok media URL lives in memory or a short-lived cache. We store the video ID, never the signed link.
Plain pages
System fonts, inline icons and no third-party scripts. The page you are reading is mostly text because text is what you came for.
What a TikTok downloader actually does
A TikTok downloader is not a screen recorder. It does not play the video and capture pixels. It asks TikTok for the same public data a browser asks for, finds the media URL that TikTok hands to a player, and copies the bytes from that URL into a file. The useful part is the parsing: TikTok uses several link shapes, short links redirect, and the media URL expires quickly. A downloader that handles those three details well is a downloader that works.
There is no secret source. Every public TikTok post carries enough metadata for a logged-out visitor to find the video, and that is exactly the boundary we work inside. We do not create accounts, borrow session cookies, or use a logged-in session to reach posts that a visitor could not see.
Why a saved TikTok video sometimes has a watermark
TikTok publishes more than one version of many videos. One stream is prepared for playback inside the app and another is prepared for sharing out. The sharing version often carries the TikTok logo and the creator's handle as part of the picture; the playback version often does not. Which versions exist depends on the post, the upload and changes TikTok makes on its side.
We do not remove a watermark from a file. Removing one would mean editing someone else's video, and we do not do that. When a clean playback stream exists, we fetch it as it is; when it does not, the result is the version that exists. If a page promises a clean file for every post, it is either editing the video or guessing.
What “high resolution” really means here
The resolution of a TikTok video is set when the creator uploads it, and TikTok may re-encode it afterwards. A post filmed in high definition can be served at a lower resolution depending on the client, the region and the age of the post. Asking for the best available stream gets you the best stream that exists — it cannot invent pixels that TikTok never published.
This is why we describe the higher-resolution option as “best available” rather than a fixed number. A site that prints a fixed resolution on every download is describing the upload, not the file you receive.
What happens to the link you paste
The link is parsed on our server to find the post ID. We keep the ID for the life of the request, and we keep anonymous counters (how many lookups, how many downloads, how long they took) so we can spot abuse and outages. We do not build a per-visitor history and we do not require an identity to use the tool.
The media URL TikTok returns is signed and short-lived. We hold it only long enough to stream the file, and a cache copy expires within an hour. The file itself is streamed to you; it is not published at a permanent public address. That is deliberate: a permanent link to someone else's video would be a distribution service, and this is a download tool.
Questions
Is TikSwoop free?
Yes. There is no paid tier, no trial and no download counter to unlock. The site is supported without ads, which is why there is nothing to click except the tool.
Is it safe to use?
You paste a public link and receive a file. We do not ask for a password, an email or a login, and the page loads no third-party scripts. As with any download, the file comes from the creator's upload, so treat it like any other file from the internet.
Do I need a TikTok account?
No. An account is not required to view a public post in a browser, and it is not required here. We never sign in to TikTok.
Does it work on iPhone?
Yes, in Safari, Chrome and Firefox. The file is saved to Files, then Downloads. If the share sheet offers “Save video” directly, that is TikTok's own save and it may include an overlay; our download row is separate.
Why does my saved video have a watermark?
TikTok publishes a playback stream and, for many posts, a separate sharing stream with the logo and handle burned in. We fetch the playback stream when it exists and never edit it. If only the sharing version exists for a post, that is the file you get.
Can I download private videos?
No. A private post is not visible to a logged-out browser, so it is not visible to us. If the link does not open in a private browser window, it will not work here.
Is downloading a TikTok video legal?
That depends on where you are and what you do with the file. Downloading someone else's video does not give you the right to republish it. For personal, offline viewing the risk is generally lower; for commercial use or reposting, get permission from the creator. This page is not legal advice.
What about music and audio?
When TikTok exposes the post's audio stream, we can deliver it as its own file. We do not convert audio to another format and we do not offer a music-catalogue downloader. A sound that is licensed inside TikTok may not be licensed for reuse outside it.
Does a higher-resolution download work?
Sometimes. We ask TikTok for the best stream it publishes for that post. If the creator uploaded at a lower resolution, or TikTok re-encoded the post, the best stream is simply lower. We will not label a file with a resolution it does not have.
Why did my link fail?
The usual causes are a profile link instead of a post link, a deleted post, a private account, a story link, a Douyin link, or a short link that has expired. The result page names the case it detected; copying the link again from the post usually fixes the first one.
Do you store the videos?
We store the video ID and anonymous counters, not a library of files. The signed media URL is held only for the stream and expires within an hour. We do not publish a permanent copy at a public address.
How many videos can I download?
One per request, with a per-IP rate limit. There is no daily purchase quota to upgrade. If you hit the limit, the page tells you how many seconds to wait.
Does it work without the app?
Yes. TikSwoop is a website. There is no app to install, no APK, no store listing and no add-to-home-screen prompt.
Which countries does it work in?
The site is available worldwide. A specific post may still be region-restricted by TikTok, in which case the download fails with a clear message.
